Super Pup Course
Level I

Presuming you have reserved your new Hoytt Dobe in advance of it turning eight weeks of age, the pup at eight weeks of age begins the introduction to 'lead' control. Within seven to ten days the pup enters a quiet period of one week for ear crop and healing of the ears. From this point having the pup already walking on the lead, the following weeks will take him through this course, a course best described as the Canine A.B.C.s, the true foundation of the adult Dobe's obedience control. Placement at 15 to 18 weeks of age.

The program is set on a six day a week three times a day 'outing,' a combination of play times and instruction which will eventually see the young student learn heel on lead, sit at the instructor's left side, and come. Come is practiced formally on a twenty foot tether line and without the tether line during free time (when the pup is just out enjoying the freedom of the yard). The student also learns to down stay with the handler circling at a distance of the tether line. Sit stay is also taught using the distance of the tether line as a guide. In effect, this course prepares the pup for the next stage of refinement through practice and detailing. You as the pup's owner can take it from here using the Study Time Video Guide volume I and volume II, or you can let us take the pup to through the next level, the Super Pup Course Level II Program.
